In memoriam: Jimmy Stokes

Jimmy Harold Stokes, 81, passed away on August 31, 2024, in Tallahassee, Florida. A military honors funeral will be held at Tallahassee National Cemetery on September 13, 2024, at 11:45 a.m.
Born on April 2, 1943, in Lee, Florida, to Frank and Effie Stokes, Jimmy served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force, reaching the rank of Master Sergeant. He served in Vietnam and was stationed in Alaska, Florida, the Azores, and Germany, earning numerous commendations. After his military career, he worked for NASA as a safety engineer and later became an entrepreneur and motivational speaker.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 33 years, Joye Courtney Stokes, his sons David and Daniel, stepdaughters Janet Hinkle and Jaren Webb, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a man of deep faith, loved his family, and was admired by many.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
