BL Birthday Fall Challenge

It is amazing how far you'll go when you have someone who believes in you! Brian Long was born in 1971 when people born with cystic fibrosis weren't expected to live into their 20's.  His family mobilized and were determined to beat the odds. They participated in walk-a-thons, bowl-a-thons, casino nights and raised funds for research and patient care that would give Brian a chance to live longer.

With astounding bravery, Brian received a double lung transplant 14 years ago, providing him with a new lease on life! Fundraising was and is a family tradition!

Brian and his husband Ed Feijo maintained that tradition by donating generously every October to celebrate Brian's birthday.  This tradition inspired Ed's support and community challenge this fall.

On June 14, 2023, Brian lost his battle to cystic fibrosis.  During his 50 years, Brian surrounded himself with family and people who believed in him and hope.  He approached life and the obstacles placed before him with humor and boundless courage.

This October, Ed has made a $10,000 to the Massachusetts/Rhode Island Annual Fund and challenges our community to raise an additional $10,000 before December 1, 2024 to help in the fight against CF.  This generosity honors Brian and others like him who fought the good fight and made a commitment to the future.
