Racing for a Cure

Hello! My name is Lucas Allen, and I was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 18 months old. My whole life I have grown up being told that I couldn't do things, constantly battling the what ifs of living with Cystic Fibrosis. I have always been an active individual, but during the pandemic I decided to take up distance running. Since then, I have run over 1,000 miles completing an 8k, a 10k, and 4 Half Marathons. After achieving my goal of a sub-two hour half marathon this spring, I have decided to take it a step further by attempting my first ever full marathon on November 11th, 2023 in Outer Banks, North Carolina.
After registering for the race, I began to think of the opportunity I have before me; not only can I better my own health by running, but I can also have a positive influence on the health of the 70k other patients world wide. My goal is to fundraise $26,200 between my first official training day on July 10th and November 12th, race day. I figure it is only fair since I will be running a whopping 26.2 miles!
I am committed to helping find a cure for cystic fibrosis and am raising funds to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Contributions to my personal fundraising page go to the Annual Fund which provide important, unrestricted resources that help develop new treatments and pursue every opportunity for promising research that can lead to a cure. Please consider making a gift today. Your support will help make a difference for all those with CF and their families. Thank you!
